On February 14, 2017, life dealt a devastating blow to Maurice (Meaux) Trosclair when he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. His wife, Nancy, was thrust into a world of uncertainty and fear. But instead of succumbing to despair, Nancy turned her pain into purpose.

Turning tragedy into a mission

The Trosclairs embarked on a cross-country adventure, using their travels to raise awareness about sudden cardiac arrest and the importance of CPR and AEDs. Nancy, armed with knowledge and determination, became a passionate advocate for heart health.

A second chance at life

On May 28, 2021, tragedy struck again. Meaux suffered another cardiac arrest while on their journey. This time, Nancy was ready. She sprang into action, directing bystanders to call 911 and locate an AED. With unwavering resolve, she performed CPR until EMS arrived, buying Meaux precious time.

Unwavering support

Nancy's role as a caregiver extended far beyond the initial emergency. She navigated the complexities of Meaux's medical care, advocating for his needs and ensuring he received the best possible treatment.

Even when faced with setbacks, such as a second cardiac event and a severe allergic reaction, Nancy remained steadfast. Her quick thinking and unwavering support were instrumental in Meaux's recovery.

A legacy of lifesaving

Back home in New Orleans, Nancy continues her mission as the executive director of Heartbeat NOLA. Her efforts have led to the installation of 10 AEDs in the community, resulting in three lives saved.

A true hero

Nancy Trosclair is more than just a devoted wife; she's a lifesaver, an advocate, and an inspiration. Her unwavering commitment to cardiac arrest awareness and her remarkable actions in the face of crisis make her a deserving recipient of the People Saving People Award.
