The Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation staff and volunteers worked to raise awareness about its mission and initiatives during EMS Today in Baltimore, March 1-3. Initiatives include:
- National SCA Survivor Network
- People Saving People(TM) Award
- You Can Save a Life at School campaign
- SCA survivor and family workshops at the Emergency Cardiovascular Care Update, September 13-14, conducted in collaboration with the Citizen CPR Foundation
- 2012 video contest, conducted in collaboration with the Citizen CPR Foundation.
To promote the People Saving People(TM) award, two bystanders who saved lives were interviewed by Carissa Caramanis O'Brien. Matthew Strauss, 26, used an AED to save the life of a 48-year-old spectator at a high school basketball game nine years ago. (See attached, page 12.) Bob Huebner, used an AED to save the life of a 17-year-old player six years ago at a basketball practice.
