
County Executive Dan Onorato has declared October 15th Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Day in Allegheny County. The proclamation was issued in light of an event to be hosted by the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation, a national nonprofit organization based in Pittsburgh, on Thursday, October 15th from 6-8 pm at Hyde Park on the North Shore.
Last year, Congress designated October Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month. About 250,000 people die each year in the U.S. from sudden cardiac arrest, making ita leading cause of death in the U.S. It is also a leading cause of death in Allegheny County.
