New GreatNonprofits.org Award is Based on Positive Online Reviews

PITTSBURGH, PA--The Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation announced today that it has been honored with a prestigious 2013 Top-Rated Award by GreatNonprofits, the leading provider of user reviews about nonprofit organizations.

We are excited to be named a Top-Rated 2013 Nonprofit,” says Mary Newman, Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation President. “We are proud of our accomplishments this year, including educational campaigns to raise awareness about sudden cardiac arrest in schools and colleges, and launch of our Sudden Cardiac Arrest Network, an online community for survivors, families and other advocates.”

The Top-Rated Nonprofit award was based on the large number of positive reviews that the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation received – reviews written by volunteers, donors and clients. People posted their personal experience with the nonprofit. For example:

  • Matthew Strauss, from Alexandria, VA, wrote, “It has been a privilege to be affiliated with the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation for the past several years. The foundation is truly there to spread the word to everyone about sudden cardiac arrest and its devastating effects on our society. The foundation is not only a great resource for survivors through the Survivor Network but also a place where families and other loved ones can ask tough questions about SCA. I have many friends and colleagues that have turned to me for answers about the latest SCA treatment or therapy because of my affiliation with this industry-leading foundation.”
  • Kelly Sawyer, MD, from Royal Oak, MI, wrote, “The Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation is an excellent resource for people who have suffered cardiac arrest and their family and friends. They have wonderful and dedicated leadership who put forth 100% effort to be active in the community, raise awareness, and keep their website and newsletters current. They continue to seek ways to better serve those who have been touched by cardiac arrest and have a wealth of information available for those who want to be active in their own communities. People from all over the world have found this group on the web and joined its membership, demonstrating its importance and relevance. The personable and passionate leaders make this nonprofit successful.”
  • A.J. Caliendo, from Pittsburgh, PA, wrote, “I have been a part of the SCA Foundation since its inception and I can personally attest to the good work they have done over the years. I, myself, am a survivor of cardiac arrest, so I know the devastation that a victim experiences. The Foundation has been instrumental in my psychological recovery from an event that, at the age of 49, could have haunted me the rest of my life. Having worked with many other nonprofits, I know the importance of public awareness and fundraising. The Foundation has done an admirable job in both areas. Their people believe in what they do and know what they are doing. That is an unbeatable combination in the effort to save lives.”

The Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation was part of the inaugural group to qualify for Top-Rated Awards this year. “Savvy donors want to see the impact of their donations more than ever,” said Perla Ni, CEO of GreatNonprofits, “People with direct experience with the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation have voted that the organization is making a real difference.”

Being on the Top-Rated list gives donors and volunteers more confidence that this is a credible organization. The reviews by volunteers, clients and other donors show the on-the-ground results of this nonprofit. This award is a form of recognition by the community.
