Sudden Cardiac Arrest is the leading cause of death in student-athletes and on school campuses, often caused by a heart condition that goes undetected through the standard physical exam. Early detection can be aided by the addition of an electrocardiogram (ECG) and its proper interpretation.
To combat SCA and prevent premature death of youth, Who We Play For and Parent Heart Watch are partnering with national leaders on SCA prevention and ECG interpretation in athletes to host their second annual Virtual ECG Training Event on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 6 pm EST via Zoom.
Presented by Dr. Jonathan Drezner from the University of Washington Medicine Center for Sports Cardiology with the objectives of this workshop include:
● Distinguish physiologic ECG findings from ECG abnormalities requiring more investigation.
● Accurately apply the International Criteria in 6 steps
● Outline the recommended secondary evaluation of specific ECG abnormalities
● Review return to play protocols
Why participate in this ECG virtual training?
Several school districts have adopted policies requiring student-athletes to have an electrocardiogram (ECG) for participating in sports, including Brevard, Highlands, Leon, Osceola, Orange, Seminole, and Suwannee counties. All clinicians are invited to participate in this training.
